The First Paralympic Winter World Cup!
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at 10:21 amThe first Paralympic Winter World Cup has officially taken place in Solleftea, Sweden, and I must say it has developed into a fantastic event! Many athletes travelled to the Swedish ski resort, and were able to participate in four Paralympic Winter sports: Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing and Ice Sledge Hockey. It is the nearest comparison to the Vancouver experience for the athletes and will hold them in good stead for 2010.
Much like the Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing World Championships in Vuokatti, Finland, athletes had an amazing Scandinavian experience based on high-quality facilities and services. Well done athletes and organizers for yet another remarkable opportuntiy to witness Paralympic Winter Sport at its best!
Keep reading about the competitions and training, because the winter season continues with the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Korea at the end of the month!
